Meditation is an amazing form of medicine. In our culture, we have too much stress and nobody has been trained in how to relax. We are unaware of our surroundings as time is scarce and there’s too much to do. It just so happens that stress is one of the leading causes of chronic disease in our world today. That means, if we want to be healthy, we need to learn how to relax. Meditating is a simple practice that can get us there.
When we meditate, we reduce Cortisol which is our main stress hormone. We allow the mind to relax and we focus on our inner world of sensations. Anchoring the mind with breathing is a common method of doing so. The body likes to move, and the path of meditation asks us to be still and observe our inner world. From here, we can understand that change is universal and that healing begins when we set ourselves free of delusion and desire…what does this mean? Well, basically, it teaches us to be happy with what we have and not worry about things that are out of our hands.
Any sensation in the body comes and goes. As do all phenomena in life. Greed, anger, hatred, jealousy, and anxiety are all reflections of personal suffering. Looking within and finding our inner source of peace and beauty can liberate us from this cycle.
Whether you want to get to know your inner self or simply reduce anxiety and stress, meditation can really help you. It’s been around for thousands of years and has no side effects. Unlike many of the drugs out there, meditation is a natural way to relax the mind and enjoy life. The energy that is liberated when we meditate is also amazing. I doesn’t happen overnight, but when we start to discover our inner nature and reduce our baseline anxiety in life, something amazing happens. We wake up. True health and vitality come to those who are awake and alive from the inside out. Meditation is an ancient gift that can help us discover this inner energy of life we call Vitality.
