Have Psychedelic drugs gotten a bad rap over the years? Join Dr Pedram Shojai in a provocative series of interviews with world experts discussing the newest research on this topic. Some teams are getting incredible results with MDMA for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder while “Magic Mushrooms” are being used to treat anxiety and depression.
It turns out we may have thrown the baby out the with bathwater with certain drugs. The class of drugs called “entheogens” (def- bring you closer to God) include ayahuasca, peyote, mushrooms, DMT, and a few others. These are technically non-addictive and have shown to help patients find peace with themselves.
One takeaway from the interviews is that irresponsible use isn’t wise. Coupling MDMA dosing with some good psychotherapy, however, has shown to have tremendous benefit.
Perhaps it’s time to take a look at what this class of drugs can do for the growing population of people suffering from mental illness in our world. The promise is there. The science is there. Now there needs to be the outcry and the political will. The one caveat- do it right and have trained professionals come along for the ride and leverage the experience towards personal growth.
Enjoy the interview.
