Dr. Susan Pierce Thompson is no stranger to addiction. In her own words, she has “had to live [her] life through the lens” of addiction. As a teenager, she began to use drugs as a means to combat weight gain, ultimately leading her to drop out of high school.
Thankfully, at the age of 20, Susan was able to kick her addiction and hasn’t had a drink or drug in 21 years. She was able to go back to school and excel in both her academic and personal lives. Sounds like a success story right? Unfortunately, the lack of drugs gave way to another addiction for her: Food.

What is a food addiction? Susan is quick to separate a food addiction from overeating. She says she found herself “binge eating on pints of ice cream and pots of pasta,” and being unable to stop. When diets, 12-step programs, and ever hypnotherapy didn’t do the trick, she took matters into her own hands and finally lost the weight. Susan has now successfully maintained her weight-loss for 13 years.
Susan’s goal is to help people like herself who struggle with addiction, specifically food addiction, lose their weight and combat their eating habits.
