Nature’s Logic, Canine Caviar and Mary’s Free Range Pet Food were just a few of the healthy lines available at this year’s America’s Family Pet Expo at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa.
Nature’s Logic boasts 100 percent natural, whole food ingredients and no synthetic vitamins, no corn, wheat, rice, soy, potato, tapioca or gluten, no chemical preservatives, artificial flavors or colors, and no ingredients from China.
Canine Caviar offers an alkaline dog food and GMO- and gluten-free supplements and treats.
Mary’s Free Range Pet Food offers raw food for dogs and cats with no antibiotics (ever) and no preservatives. Its Chicken Formula for dogs is USDA Organic and Non-GMO Project Verified.
“The ingredients have become a big part of what people look at. The consumers are getting educated on what is in the products that they’re feeding their animals. Especially in the last few years since the big scare out of China,” says Dave Williams, vice president of sales for the World Pet Association, which puts on the Pet Expo. “Now organic, natural, has become something that everybody wants to be able to put on their label.”
Some other noteworthy vendors at the Pet Expo included My Perfect Pet – which is a lightly cooked, frozen dog food made with human consumable ingredients, no meals or by-products, no corn, soy or sugars, no gluten and no preservatives – and JustFoodForDogs, offering home-cooked meals using 100 percent USDA-certified ingredients and no preservatives (food you can literally eat yourself).
