The issue of infertility is on the rise and it’s really scary. We’re aware that as women get older, their fertility decreases. However, statistics are showing that infertility rates are rising across all age groups. According to the CDC, 1 in 8 couples have trouble getting pregnant or sustaining a pregnancy. Even the 18 to 24 year olds who should be able to get pregnant relatively easily are having problems.
Why are our youngest, most vital, fertile, healthiest beings not able to reproduce? It may have to do with our lifestyles and the environments in which we live. Emotional, psychological or relationship stress can interfere with our hormones and contribute to decreased sperm production. Vitamin deficiencies, as well as obesity, are also associated with male and female infertility. Exposure to harmful environmental elements is a huge factor too.
On this episode of The Health Bridge, Katherine Zagone joins Pedram and Tami to discuss fertility in the modern world. Katherine is a naturopathic doctor who specializes in women’s health and fertility. To learn more about how we can adjust our lifestyles to increase our bodies’ fertility, watch the episode!
