The Battle Against High Blood Sugar

THE BLOOD SUGAR BALANCE

As the mass production of sugary foods has emerged, so have blood sugar imbalances and diseases to the body. The law of the body is that no matter what, it must maintain a certain level of sugar in the blood. The level should always be around 100. If it goes too high its called hyperglycemia (diabetes) and if its too low its called hypoglycemia. The body will do everything to maintain that normal blood sugar. And almost everything you eat breaks down into sugar–even protein and fat. Sugar is used as fuel and nourishment for the cells but sadly many Americans are consuming around 149 pounds of sugar per year. Even baby food products are jacked up in high fructose corn syrup. Dr. Eric Berg, author of the Amazon.com best selling book The 7 Principles of Of Fat Burning, explains the truth about blood sugar and healthy ways to combat this new age sugar crisis.

The Basics of Blood Sugars

The liver is a very important factor in the role of our blood sugar levels and in fact is the most ignored organ in terms of diabetes. Our liver controls blood sugar when you’re not eating and the pancreas, on the other hand, controls the sugar when you eat. It is also responsible for making the hormone called insulin which gets the sugar out of the blood and reduces the blood sugar. Another commonly ignored fact is that your body needs more potassium which is the glue to hold the sugar. When we have low potassium levels it means more sugar cravings. These symptoms of cravings actually mean you need more potassium and not more sugar. Our bodies tend to gain more fat without enough potassium and proper sugar levels too.

So what do we to do minimize cravings and balance our blood sugar? Here are some tips from Dr. Berg that will get your blood sugar levels balanced and prevent further damage:

7 Tips to Save Your Insulin

  • Tip 1:

Eat more veggies! Our bodies need 7 cups of vegetables a day –a must to balance blood sugar.

  • Tip 2:

Eat less sugar. Our body is no longer able to regulate sugar when we consume too much of it.

  • Tip 3:

Avoid medication for low blood sugar levels, unless your blood sugar is too high.

  • Tip 4:

Love up your liver with bitters. When you damage the liver by consuming too much alcohol or junk food you inhibit its ability to control blood sugar levels. Get the liver healthy, protect, and improve it.

  • Tip 5:

Intense exercise enhances growth hormones which are anti-aging and help protect the liver as well.

  • Tip 6:

Sleep well and get at least 7-8 hours in.

  • Tip 7:

KALE yeah! Superfoods like kale are great to heal and protect the liver and also add more potassium to your diet.

Keeping these tips in mind will help beat the blood sugar myths and armor you with knowledge to prevent any damage to the vital organs involved in balancing your levels.
