We’ve all got goals and want to see things get nudged in our lives. Sometimes we hit the mark and are proud of ourselves and other times…well, you know.
Over the years, I’ve been working with students from all walks of life in helping them attain their goals. What kind of goals? Anything from health to financial or even relationships. The formula I’ve used to help them find their power and focus is one taught to me be my Kung Fu Grandmaster years ago. It is an ancient Taoist methodology of clarity meeting drive and it has worked well for thousands of people over the years.
Here’s The Formula:
ATTENTION + INTENTION = MANIFESTATION
Let’s jump into this…
Attention
What I mean by this is your focus. This is what determines your reality and where most people in the West are super lost. Why? Because we have so little discipline and have never been taught how to calm or focus our minds.
Your focus determines your reality
Think of it this way- you have a garden and have only a finite amount of water. If you want your favorite plants to grow, you need to get them more water. Most of us have indiscriminate sprinkler systems that spray our mental “water” all over the place, feeding the weeds and never really driving enough water/energy/life force to the plants we actually want growing.
If you apply this to life, it then requires you to really throttle back and actually think about what’s important and what things (weeds or other plants) who need to let go of in order to effectively grow your favorites (your stated goals).
How Do We Do This?
1- Learn to meditate – calming the mind and getting clarity really helps us filter through all the noise and make good decisions that come from a calm centered place. Here’s a free meditation track to get you started. (ICON TO TRACK FROM LAST MONTH)
2- Set goals and journal– yeah get it down on paper. Look at your 30/60/100 day goals and then your 1/3/5 year goals and then work backwards. What do you need to be doing each week in order to get there? Each day? The only way to get there is to plan for it
3- Reinforcement – look at your goals daily and really work towards them all of the time. We have a tendency to forget- we lose focus and when our attention is shifted, weeds everywhere…again.
So maintaining focus and sharpening our attention is critical if we actually want to get things done in life. Again, whether its losing 20 pounds or finishing that degree, focus must be maintained.
Intention
If your focus is where you point the hose in the garden, then your intention is the water itself. The more power (water) you can drive through yourself, the more the flowers or plants can grow quickly and become healthy and robust.
Getting strong with our willpower is key. This is a huge issue for so many people and I’ve worked with thousands over the years helping them build resolve and become effective in life. How do we do this? Training.
Here Are 5 Ways To Strengthen Your Power Of Intention Immediately –
1- Practice Qi Gong- this ancient form of energy yoga helps boost your personal power and helps you become a stronger conduit of power in life
2- Learn to honor your word – we always say we’re going to do things and then bail on them…this breaks down our personal power and makes us lose faith in ourselves. Say what your do and do what you say.
3- Practice being silent- I used to take a day a week for a vow of silence. It is a very powerful practice in that it shows us how much energy and vitality we leak through our mumbling all day. The ability to stop and take pause before committing our life’s breath is a great practice in regaining personal power.
4- Slow the mind-numbers – whatever this is to you…it may be alcohol, weed, pain pills…whatever. We have a tendency to self medicate and this becomes a crutch by which we leak away our personal power. If you know what I’m talking about here, its time for help. Write it down – this ties in with the ATTENTION piece again. Make a plan and read it daily. Commit to sticking to it and really push yourself to make this what you’re about.
The Magic
Get clear and focus in on what you want and then drive your personal power behind it every day and you’ll start to see things change in life. Its not complicated but it will take work. Do the work and wake up to your potential.
